making connections

Connect instruments and/or effects to 1/4” jacks

Route your audio signals using mini patch cables

  • Multiple effects are typically patched before signal return
  • For instrument with no effects, patch channel send to return
  • Mute channel amplifiers to avoid audible pops while patching

basic effects re-ordering

Using 1/4” cables, connect your instrument to the input of one channel, and connect your amplifier to the output of that channel.

Then connect the remaining channels to the inputs and outputs of your effects pedals and processors.

Using the patch cables, patch signal from your instrument into and out of any effects channels in any order. After the last effect, patch back to the output feeding your amplifier.

To bypass all effects, patch the instrument channel to itself, sending signal directly to the amp.

effects grouping

Then connect the remaining channels to the inputs and outputs of your effects pedals and processors.

instruments & effects swapping

Using 1/4” cables, connect your instruments to the inputs of of several channels, and connect the outputs of those channels to your mixer or DAW.

Then connect the remaining channels to the inputs and outputs of individual effects  or interconnected groups or chains of effects.

Using the patch cables, patch signal from your instrument channels into and out of one or more channels of effects. For each instrument signal to reach its destination at your mixer or DAW, patch back to its respective channel output.

To bypass effects for a particular instrument, patch the instrument channel to itself, sending signal directly to your DAW or mixer.

audio & cv/modulation routing

Using 1/4” cables, connect  your modular synthesizers and their destinations to several channels.  Connect inputs and outputs of effects, groups, or chains to other channels.

Then connect any remaining channels to the modulation input/output jacks of your outboard effects that will send or receive contol voltages.

Using the patch cables, patch audio signals from instruments through effects and back out to their destinations.

You can also route modulation signals between your modular synth and effects by patching directly from the modular into the Patchulator 8000.

* Be mindful not to confuse audio and CV inputs and outputs. Use labels and/or another Patchulator 8000 for complex setups.
